The Son of God, Rice and Citrus? Yes, this is one fantastic, life-giving love poem to the aromatic citruses and balmy rice grains of Southeastern Asian cooking. The gourmand notes of lemongrass, lime, shiso, coconut, and coriander bristle with the fizz and joy of preparing a good green coconut curry - it is full of good humour and the scent of aromatics lingering on our fingers. Nearby, a pot of basmati rice is finishing its final steam, and the warm, toasty rice vapors fill the room with sweet clouds of starch. Unusually, this is a savory rather than sweet gourmand, although the citrus notes do help to keep things bright and zesty. This is a scent of two distinct halves, though, with the steamy, tropical vibe slowly banking down to reveal a sensual musk and leather scent, like the back end of Shalimar. Beautiful work, and an unusual gourmand that winds up in classic oriental territory and is all the better for it.
Notes: lime, ginger, coriander leaves, coconut, rice, shiso, bergamot, vetiver, castoreum, musk, amber, leather
