Narcisse Taiji by Atelier Materi is a unisex Oriental Floral fragrance launched in 2021, created by perfumer Marie Hugentobler. Bold, textured, and deeply expressive, this composition reimagines narcissus in a raw, almost tactile form—balancing light and shadow, softness and strength, in a refined olfactory dialogue.
The fragrance opens with an intriguing trio of tuberose, ginger, and pear. Tuberose brings creamy floral intensity, ginger adds a vibrant, spicy spark, and pear introduces a juicy, luminous sweetness that softens the opening while keeping it dynamic.
At the heart, narcissus takes center stage, paired with hay and bran. This unusual combination gives the fragrance its distinctive character—green, slightly animalic, dry, and earthy. The hay and bran notes evoke fields warmed by the sun, adding rustic depth and a natural, almost skin-like texture to the floral core.
The base grounds the composition in sensuality and warmth with leather, musk, and patchouli. Leather adds a subtle, refined roughness, musk enhances intimacy, and patchouli provides earthy depth and longevity.
