Rania J. – Cuir Andalou
Refined and mysterious, Cuir Andalou is a dusty, medicinal leather with a serious dose of animalic oud. Its distinct, raw, and uncompromising character is the perfect accompaniment on a journey through Andalusian art, architecture and music, a culture so direct, vibrant and full of verve that it speaks to other cultures easily, without any need for translation. Saffron adds a dusty suede finish to the raw leather here, and neroli a hint of refreshing soapiness that works well as light relief against the darker notes. At the heart of this wonderful fragrance lies an animalistic combo of genuine Hindi oud and freshly tanned leather, softened at the edges by floral flous of rose, violet, and iris – a surprisingly classical touch in the midst of brutality. Warm, spicy brown patchouli leads us by the hand to a grassy, rooty vetiver base, suggestive of a damp forest floor. Sandalwood adds a milky softness that lifts the resinous greenness into the light. Incredible work.
