Parfums MDCI – Painters and Perfumers – Cuir Cavalier
Powerful. Intense. Attractive.
Cuir Cavalier was developed by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer and inspired by Gericault’s The Charging Chasseur.” A fine leather imbued with fiery spice and thickened with precious oud wood, Cuir Cavalier takes its rightful place among the heavyweights of the smoky leather category but its airy sophistication ensures that it remains unique.
Everything in this scent speaks to the power and majestic grandeur of the horse and the undaunted determination with which the imperial officer holds his saber. A crisp red Italian tangerine leads the charge, infused with the leathery spiciness of noble saffron, which gives the scent a buttery, nappa leather accent that’s just gorgeous. Saddle leather, but with the fineness of texture one associates more with artisanally crafted leather gloves than the sweaty, animalic aroma of a horse. The fine leather cups a fleshy rose in its folds, sweet and fiery-sharp all at once – a spicy accent rather than an overtly floral one. A warm, sultry base of oud and vanilla swirled through with tonka bean and honeyed musks all adds up to an experience that is both incredibly sensual and comforting.
