Le Galion – Cuir
Le Galion’s Cuir is an homage to the wonderful work of Paul Vacher in the field of leather scents, particularly those masterpieces he created for Dior (Diorling, 1963) and Lanvin (Scandal, 1931). Paul Vacher had a talent for rendering barbaric materials such as raw leather into the creamiest, lightest, and most tender (yet also naughty and animal-like) leather fragrances for women. Diorling, for example, while it still existed in its original form, combined a beautiful creamy, green purse leather, as soft as lambskin, with the tender, skin-like milkiness of a woman’s nape. Le Galion’s Cuir is a reimagining of this soft, sensuous Vacher touch with leather.
THE SCENT
Cuir is a soft, dark mossy leather fragrance with the creamy floralcy of lilies swimming underneath its skin. A bright, sharp bergamot opens the scent and elemi resin adds a creamy, lemony incense character in the heart. The star of the show remains that dark, supple purse leather though; it is soft and creamy, but also tenderly animalic. In the base, ambergris and musk add a warm, salty, lived-in feel to the leather accord.
