With Akaster, perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani displays his talent for creating warm but aromatic and exciting compositions. Soon, the bright, bitter fruit and woody herbs part to reveal a majestic floral heart of two very different roses - a pulpy, velvety Bulgarian rose pulsating in tune with the higher pitch of the lemony, leafy green Taif rose from Saudi Arabia - bracketed at either end by a green, herbal, and pinkly-rosy geranium leaf note, which covers everything in a metallic, bloody sharpness that will draw saliva from your mouth. A spicy oud adds a hint of grounding leather in the base, and the sweetness of a milky sandalwood dipped in a praline accord adds a delicious gourmand angle that balances out all the sharp edges of the herbs and flowers.
